Best Friend Meetup!
Who: Asami and Ami
What: Ami and Asami hang out!
When: Some monday afternoon.
Where: Ryuseki.
School has been a boring time for the last couple weeks. Ami is tired, nearly falling asleep in her classes, and her school work has been affected. Long nights doing interviews with websites and small signings has sapped her energy. Somehow, she still managed to look the part of the school's famous idol, with her hair done properly, and her makeup just flashy enough to keep her at the top of the school.
And yet, as much as on the outside she plays that part, the other side of Ami just wants to hang out with her friend. She wants to be with her friend and go somewhere fun, and forget everything. That's why Ami found herself near the entrance to the school texting Asami.
Hey, what are you doing? Wanna hang out?
Somehow, she managed to text that, even though the inside of her was super worried she might be busy or not want to hang out at all. That's why after hitting send Ami just stood there staring at her phone, ignorant of anyone trying to talk to her or anything.

Knowing that she had a few things to catch up on, Asami had seemed to decide that there would be no point in wasting time. Besides, she was tired of the gazes that never seemed to come her way. That, she thought, made her want to go somewhere a little more private. Which she also believed Ami might appreciate.
"You could always come home," she said. "Mum usually cooks something nice."
no subject
"That would be really nice..." she said quietly. Finally the bus arrived and stopped to pick them up.
no subject
That happened to be the very moment the bus set down and people started getting on - she waited, embarked and paid, and chose a nice seat at the middle-back. There was a moment or two of quiet gazing. Quite annoying, but she let Ami sit down first.
"Probably," she said. "Depends if my brother keeps his big nose out."
no subject
"Do you not like your brother?" Ami had her own issues with her sister, so in a way she wished Asami and her brother got along. She didn't want anyone to have to live like her.
"I've never really talked to him before." She had seen Asami and her brothering arguing in school before, but Ami was the type to wait until it had died down before joining her friend. So she didn't know much about him other than he was a stickler for rules in a way Asami wasn't.
no subject
She glanced outside; things were blurry, and rushed by with increasing speed - like her thoughts on the subject. She leaned back and continued watching things move, preferring a window seat to struggling to peer around someone.
"Sorry. He's just been going on lately. Just wish he'd shut up."
no subject
"At least..he cares about you right?" Ami tugged a hand through her hair, looking out the window as well. She was very interested in learning about her friends family life, though still trying her best not to sound over-interested, so that Asami wouldn't think of her as weird or anything. Worse, if she thought she had a crush on her brother or something.
no subject
There was a moment or two of tough figuring and recollecting. Asami struggled to agree - though she acquiesced somewhat, because her brother had some sort of influence in her life.
"He tries to help but sometimes I think he needs mine instead." She picked up her bag, which on her thighs weighed her down with pins and needles, and placed it at her feet. "The fact he's there doesn't make him all that bad, I guess."
no subject
"How did you do on the Math Test last week?" The subject change was abrupt, but believable. They had spoken about the test before, but they only had just gotten their grades back that day.
no subject
"I aced it!" she said at last. "Indeed, in my dreams anyway." But she looked disappointed. "Well, best to say my results were average. You?"
no subject
"If you want, we can study together next time." Just not at her place, since she still has never admitted she lives alone. Sometime she would have to admit that, but not today.
Soon the bus arrived downtown, and Ami and Asami stepped off together. Ami already had her phone out, trying to map directions from the bustop to the cat cafe. Already she was excited to have a purring cat nuzzling against her face.
"It's this way.." she says, staring at her phone and pointing on one direction. "...I think."
no subject
She helped Ami look around, absolutely focused and with great speed. She wanted to find it first, and had even taken a walk ahead, stopping here and there so Ami could catch up.
"Ah! I see it!" she said at last. "Over there!" She was far quicker to claim credit than her friend.
no subject
In a way Ami had been hoping to find it first, if only to impress her friend. She wanted to be seen as cool and mature, in a way that she somehow saw Asami to be. But the disappointment is fleeting, as soon as they reached the front of the cafe and look inside to see the dozens of cats.
"They're so cute..." Ami always had a soft spot for cats, ever since she was young. Though it had been years since she had her own, so this cafe was just too perfect.
"Let's go inside!" she said after a moment of gawking at the cats, opening the door for Asami.
no subject
She helped her friend with the door and closed it behind them. The following sight was of cat furniture everywhere. They were such odd things to see. In the course of a minute she patted a trio of plush floor pillows, held a cushion as she stroked a standing pet house, and stood on her toes to see a brown-and-white cat asleep on a podium.
A bookshelf in the back drew her to metal stool chairs at a counter by the window. She inspected a black young male lying in a basket on the floor, and thought how strange it was.
"I don't have pets," she said. "Do you?"
no subject
"No, I wish I could have a cat, but I'm not home enough I think.." Not to mention her small apartment was probably not the best place for one. But the idea of having a cat just seems so perfect for the lonely model.
"I would have thought your family would have a pet," Ami said still scratching her new best friend. "You guys seemed like that traditional family with two parents, a son and daughter and a pet."
no subject
But at last she was able to find some details about herself that would grab her friend's attention and keep it on her.
"But we've got fish! In a pond and everything!"
no subject
"Um, that's too many..." Ami just tried her best to make them all happy, scratching two at a time, while also trying to converse with Asami. But it was clear Ami was enjoying herself immensely.
"Have you decided what clubs you want to join?" she asked, standing up and heading to a table that they could order from, followed by her new posse of cats.
no subject
She leaned down and scratched the third cat behind its ears. "Just to carry on from where I leave off, I suppose."
no subject
"I don't think I'm athletic enough to do any of those types of Clubs like you.." Ami did some running from time to time but only because her producer told her she had to to continue making money. But the idea of going to practices and games just seemed too hard.
"B-But I'll come to your home games to cheer you on Asami-chan."
no subject
She stood with her hands on her hips and a proud smile on her face. Rolling and working the pebble of her ego until it was almost life-sized and in Ami's face. "Well, you should do it anyway, though! It's easy."
no subject
"...I think I'll pass, I'd have to take a shower after school before going to the Production Company's office.." While her friend may know Ami was a m part time model/idol, Ami never was one to open up too much to what that entailed.
"I think I'm more suited to the cheering squad rather than anything else.." Not to mention she didn't feel like joining a sport where her anger issues would come into play often.
no subject
"I think you'll be good at it," she said. "Unless you've got bad hand-eye co-ordination or something."
no subject
"You haven't seen me in Gym then." Ami would most certainly be picked last for any sports, the times when she couldn't get out of doing things with a doctor's note.
"Did you decide what you want for dinner?" Ami asked, still petting a new cat on her lap. While she felt hungry, she felt like she wouldn't be able to pull herself away for her new friends.
no subject
She could not help thinking that she would be judged on the type of food she would provide. Like her appearance. Or grades.
no subject
But there was no judging really, Ami just thought of her friend as the perfect girl, albeit more tomboy than Ami herself. She liked how Asami didn't let anyone else define her because of her gender and was more of a free spirit than anyone she knew. She looked up to her in a way.
no subject
She dusted her hands on her skirt. She was wondering by now if it was right to bring her friend home without having asked permission first. She was sweating rather - with the thought of breaking some protocol.
"But we'd better be going soon then - it's kind of on the other end of the city."
no subject
"That sounds great..a-as long as your family doesn't mind." Dealing with her own family was painful enough, she didn't want to get on the bad side of Asami's after all.
