What: Ami and Asami sneak into the old school building! Others can join too!
When: 8:30PM, some night in June?
Where: Old School Building
Who: Ami, Asami, others!

People in school knew Ami as one person. Asami as Ami's only friend had begun to see a different side to her. And tonight it was almost as if a whole other side of Ami was coming out. A girl who had grown up playing fantasy games and wishing every single day that magic was real so that she could change her body and become who she wanted to be, she had grown up to be a little excited by adventure and the lure of possible mystery. Because if if something beyond explanation could exist at all, that meant there was a chance, no matter how small, that her dream could actually come true.

So when Asami found Ami crouched down by the fence outside the old school building, she'd see the young idol in all black, with plenty of adventuring supplies. She wore a pair of tight black jeans, sneakers, a black turtleneck, and her hair was put up in two buns on the side of her head out of the way. She had a smalls length of rope coiled and hanging from her shoulder, as well as a stack of ofuda she had made from designs online.

"Asami-chan, over here!" she whispered from her hidden spot, waving a short hand to her friend.

With a strength of 4, Ami gets a +2 bonus for her newly developed idea Lightning Punch. Now, let's see what happens.

The oni was, at the moment, busy in his own thoughts. This is unusual for oni - by and large not the brightest creatures - in that it was using its head. Perhaps this is why Murphy's law came into effect.

The whole ceiling dropped with a sound like thunder roaring. Boards of wood, dust, teenagers and oversexualized horse demons came down-- and by the rules of magic, came down three times as all the kids felt time loop repeatedly, as it would in a dramatic scene of a movie or TV series. Crash. Crash.

CRASH!!!

And before they knew it, the oni guard had been buried under a whole lot of youthful enthusiasm and debris. It took a moment for the dust to settle, and yet, inexplicably, all the kids would be okay with their fall. Perhaps a little sore, but okay.

Takuro crawled bodily over Itsuki to roll off the pile of broken timber and he got to his feet with minimal effort after their fall.

"Well, I'm not sure we need to fight the guard anymore..." he murmured, brushing dust from his pants. "That was pretty impressive."

[identity profile] cakesnake.insanejournal.com 2013-02-26 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
Itsuki rubbed his head, a bit stunned. After checking that people around him (but particularly those important to him) were alright, he clicked his tongue. "Oh my, um, I hope he's not dead..."

Honk.

"Well I'm... I'm sure he's sturdier than that, Kamui."

A deadpan honk.

"Gosh. W-well, maybe he'll recover from internal bleeding? Or-- maybe he'll get hospital care. Er. Do oni have hospital care?"

"He works for the public sector. So chances are no," said Kaunko.

One instant the ground was correctly horizontal and then the ground suddenly changed angle under his feet. (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/savedacitydesu/4969.html?thread=193385#t193385)

Akito had that very brief sensation of a short, missed step...and then a sudden drop that did more than leave his stomach behind.

As appropriate a time as this would've been to swear for once, Akito only managed a surprised, instinctive yelp before the back of his head hit the floor as he hit the impromptu slide on the way down, down down-

He briefly saw a figure that disappeared too fast to make much out. He saw a lot less he hit the basement floor with a loud 'OMPH' that sent his glasses off his face. Akito groaned, instinctively feeling for them (and missing them), "A-Araragi-san-" oh yes, he was would repay this one day,"-are you alright-"

But as bad as Akito's sight was without his glasses, he could still make out figures, even if not the details beyond blurs. He straightened, a mask of collection instantly snapping into place, and looked at them with unfocused eyes. He muttered the safe thing, "Not alone indeed..."

As he said that though, there was an instinctive panic. They looked humanoid but were they 'human' or like the 'rodent'?

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-26 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Sure, the sudden arrival of new kids was unsettling, disturbing for many, even, but if there was someone who wasn't easily surprised, it was the tall, muscular figure that approached the boy from behind. "Are you alright?" he asked, slipping hands under Akito's arms to help prop him up, dusting him off a little too, in an act of politeness that probably did very little to compensate for the fact that, should Akito have his glasses on, he'd notice he was right in the face of some tanned, oiled pectorals.

"You dropped this," said Kaunko, pushing glasses up against Akito's hand.

[identity profile] grinandbear.insanejournal.com 2013-02-26 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah-"

And up Akito went. He processed what little he could see and tell: Human voice. Human arms, fairly strong. Different sort of smell. Some kind of cologne or oil.

Akito stared at the blurry shape in front of him for a moment before that 'sheepish', self-deprecating smile snapped, 'gratitude' on his face and in his voice. "Thank you very much, sir..."

And then he put on his glasses.

He'd been right on his previous points. Human voice and arms and there was most definitely a lot of oil. The S&M gear, unexpected but that would have just been out of place and uncomfortable.

It was the fact it was an S&M equine nightmare standing right in his face that made Akito's eyes go wide as he jerked back, nearly unbalancing himself again in the scrambled back peddle, and a choked sound (he'd later hate, once he was thinking again) escaping his throat that came out as, "Holy shit-"

For the first time since he'd been summoned, Kaunko looked sincerely happy, with the sort of smile on his face that belongs on a million-dollar franchise of little equines running about frolicking with tattoos on their butts.

"Why, thank you!" he said, taking flattery in the squeal. He turned to Takuro, holding a thumbs up. "Did you see that, young master?"

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-26 12:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, K-kun, I saw that," Takuro sighed, with the put-upon weariness of parent reassuring an excitable child. "Does that mean you'll slow down a bit on the 'Master of Discomfort' thing? Give these guys a chance to recover first."

He looked over the new arrivals. "Are you okay? We were on our way up to collect you but we got... sidetracked."

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-26 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hm? Ah-- oh. Well, you just needed to say so, young master," said Kaunko. "I'll put some clothes on immediately."

With a snap of his fingers, he donned a second belt around his waist. It appeared with the sound of a cracking whip.

[identity profile] ephemeralcolor.insanejournal.com 2013-02-26 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"I... don't believe that's quite what he had in mind, sir."

Oh, yes, Mitsuya was going to remember this feeling, and she was going to channel it into a story somehow if it was the last thing she did.

While Akito and the horse creature (youkai? She'd automatically been putting non-humans into that category, but something didn't seem quite right about it here) had been conversing, Mitsuya had picked herself up, dusted herself off, and surveyed the room... or what was left of it. Certainly someone, or something, had done quite the number on it.

And as she'd suspected, there were indeed some fellow adventuresome souls here. She wondered how many had discovered the same secret she had. (It might explain the mess, at any rate. And the 'young master' business--the plain-looking one definitely had some experience.)

"No need to worry about us," she responded cheerfully, once she'd confirmed that Keiichi was with them as well. " 'Collect', you say?"

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-26 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"More like rendezvous, I guess. There's something big- well, not big at the moment but it was pretty big before- here, and the plan was to meet up with you three and leave before somebody got hurt." Takuro shoved his hands into his pockets. "I don't know if you've noticed anything besides the floor sliding out beneath you, but it seems a little busy here tonight."

"We were on our way up to you when we saw something down here and decided to check it out."

[identity profile] ephemeralcolor.insanejournal.com 2013-02-26 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Out? Is it really so dangerous that you and your... servant can't protect us?"

Mitsuya actually sounded almost petulant. After all the time she'd taken to get in here in the first place--although it seemed as though what she'd come for might in fact be in here anyway.

"Surely we can at least take the time while we're here to see what this room has to offer. Such a fortuitous coincidence shouldn't go to waste, after all."

[identity profile] competetowin.insanejournal.com 2013-02-26 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm all right," said Asami, looking more annoyed than fine. It was hard to believe that she was happy being the last to do anything - if you knew her.

Her brows were furrowed; she looked near frustrated. The speed at which she was keying numbers into her mobile seemed to burn with a kind of fire.

"And I'm already on it."

It seemed that she wasn't used to being out this late. Though, whether it was something she wanted or was expected for was anybody's guess.

[identity profile] grinandbear.insanejournal.com 2013-02-27 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
What was that quote again? Oh yes. 'This must be what going mad feels like'. Akito didn't particularly dislike people but he could dislike circumstances and how people (and horse demons apparently) could make him react. Or dislike himself for giving off such a big genuine reaction, no matter how extreme the circumstances had been.

For now, Akito had his collected mask back on.

"Well, it isn't out of our way to see what's here as long as we're quick about it," Akito agreed. He fiddled with his glasses, looking 'worn'. "After all, I doubt we'll have or should have much of a chance to come back here once we leave." After a moment's thought, Akito added, half 'teasing' half 'serious' as he looked around at the group, looking for tells or reactions, "I must admit. All the magic, demons, and catch all supernatural goings on does explain a lot of sudden interest in this building."

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-27 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm afraid I can't let you all leave just yet," a voice cut in.

It was the voice Mitsuya had heard the day she found the magical item cache, the voice that was on the phone. And the voice Ami, Asami, Takuro and Itsuki had overheard from above. It came from the door to the room, the one way out now, since the fallen floor board from above was a bit too steep to climb up.

It belonged to a man who should've looked like he was in his 20s, but looked more in his late 30s. Disheveled, with slight bags under his eyes, and a general air of "I'm not getting paid enough for this." He was wearing a security uniform - the suited man that the kids had seen on his way down, too?

He looked around with a dull look before beginning, in a deadpan tone. "Well, it is true what they say. It's easier to catch flies with honey than with vinegar."

[identity profile] grinandbear.insanejournal.com 2013-02-27 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
The expression was different (the face on the way down was panicked) but that suit looked cheap enough to have been the same man.

And yet another abnormally collected person.

Akito's practiced 'let's-be-reasonable' smile slid on, though he 'nervously' fiddled with his glasses again. "'Yet' does imply we can leave at some point somehow though, correct?"

Preferably not while dead.

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-27 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
The man eyed Akito, landing him a long and appraising look. It gave Akito an opportunity to actually see that this man had eyes that deserved a well-thought metaphor. "Eyes like daggers" would be inappropriate, as the aggression was more veiled. "Eyes like a hawk" might not be entirely fitting either, since hawks this tired would drop from the sky.

Point is, they were very sharp.

"Yes. It could be in ten years, for example. Or a hundred. Careful with your wordplay," he said, shaking his head a little and advancing further into the room. "I believe this is... almost everyone that's come in rummaging through our stuff. There's still two missing," he continued."

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-27 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
"There's two more?" Takuro asked, confused. "I didn't see anybody else, though..." Since the arrival of this new threat, Takuro had shifted closer to K-kun and Itsuki on the principal of safety in numbers.

"I was kind of expecting you to be- well, bigger."

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-27 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Now the man's eyes turned to Takuro, narrowing slightly. "A hermit, huh. Well, maybe you need to wipe your eyes a little... or be a bit more careful. You'd think someone who summons demons would know how dangerous it is to judge by appearances..."

Then, for just an instant, everyone in the room would feel a tremor in the air. A sort of reverse vertigo, for instead of looking down from a very high place, they were at the feet of something very, very tall, though only Takuro could see it... the dark, blazing shape of a feathered beast, tall like the building itself. Then the feeling stopped.

"When you're old enough like me, you learn a bit about modesty, and not showing off just how big you are."

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-27 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Kaunko frowned. His eyes blazed with flame.

"You could have made like three innuendos there... And yet you didn't. How could you...?"
