What: Ami and Asami sneak into the old school building! Others can join too!
When: 8:30PM, some night in June?
Where: Old School Building
Who: Ami, Asami, others!

People in school knew Ami as one person. Asami as Ami's only friend had begun to see a different side to her. And tonight it was almost as if a whole other side of Ami was coming out. A girl who had grown up playing fantasy games and wishing every single day that magic was real so that she could change her body and become who she wanted to be, she had grown up to be a little excited by adventure and the lure of possible mystery. Because if if something beyond explanation could exist at all, that meant there was a chance, no matter how small, that her dream could actually come true.

So when Asami found Ami crouched down by the fence outside the old school building, she'd see the young idol in all black, with plenty of adventuring supplies. She wore a pair of tight black jeans, sneakers, a black turtleneck, and her hair was put up in two buns on the side of her head out of the way. She had a smalls length of rope coiled and hanging from her shoulder, as well as a stack of ofuda she had made from designs online.

"Asami-chan, over here!" she whispered from her hidden spot, waving a short hand to her friend.

While huddling behind K-kun, Takuro had been watching the battle with a sense of despair, their defeat seemingly inevitable.

Roll to break fear: 6

"Ah!" When one of the new arrivals went flying, Takuro stumbled over, clumsily, and bent over him. He seemed very much alive, at least. Everybody else was fighting and Takuro was the only one not trying... With some effort, he straightened up and faced their enemy.

"Hey, asshole!" he yelled, furious. "What the fuck is your problem? You don't want us snooping around but you still bait us into here? We're going to kick your ass!" As he spoke, he rummaged around behind him.

Loot roll: 10

His fingers closed around a scroll.

Takuro got
a scroll of level 2 magic. Upon reading it, he will learn the WOOD-TYPE spell, Vine Growth. Grow and manipulate vines. Impress your friends by giving them a real-life opportunity to say 'I've read enough hentai to know where this is going.'

Itsuki had fallen to the back of the room. He was in the process of discovering the dull pain that comes from being flung two feet back by a snake to the face, but in that period he saw what Takuro was up to, and decided to follow his example.

"AH--um, ahah!" (Itsuki rolls 4 + 2 from luck.)

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-28 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Itsuki got a Scroll of Flash! A light-type spell.

[identity profile] cakesnake.insanejournal.com 2013-02-28 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Itsuki recalled what the now-wounded Terumi had done, and spread open the scroll to point it at Watchman. "Let's see what this does--" he began, when a blinding light spilled out of the scroll in the direction of Watchman, briefly filling the room with so much light that it looked semi-solid, fading back into darkness after a second, which is a lot more than light should linger in a room. (Roll 8)

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-28 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
All the blows were connecting, and Watchman's patience for taking a whaling from high-schoolers, being blown by winds and lightning bolts, was seemingly not depleting in the slightest. Though he did flinch at the wind, and yelp at the bolt, he just stood there-- which is where he was when the blinding light hit. "Augh! Son of a..." he said, covering his eyes a little too late.

Watchman is BLINDED for a turn.

"Augh-- you..." he began, aiming his arm in the direction where he vaguely remembers one of the kids was - Takuro. Another hellfire fireball shot.

(Roll of 9. Chances of hitting are cut in half when blind. The following math applies. Enemy accuracy can make upf or blindness, going against the character's speed for evasion.

WATCHMAN'S Accuracy is 2 (+1 bonus)
Takuro's speed is 4 (-2).
Watchman's ultimate attack: 3 / Failure.)

Light damage for 15 points.

(TURNS START OVER AGAIN, IN THE SUGGESTED ORDER THIS TIME. Apologies if last time we played out of order, specially to those who felt left out. D:)

As soon as her surprise had died down a little, Asami left the corner, put her hand on her chest and proceeded to use what she had learned. In the pause while the strands were forming, she stared at the monster's back as though she were focused on something else. She had acted rather hastily, but was worried for her friend.

[Roll: 1]

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-28 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Engrossed in his own scroll and facing their enemy, Takuro was not paying attention to what was going on behind him. As such, he was completely blindsided by the strands that were launched in his direction. He had barely finished reading before-

"What the- hey!"

The scroll dropped out of his hands as the sticky web wrapped around him and a thoroughly-bound Takuro fell down. "Is there something else- ow, shit, too tight," he grunted, struggled uselessly against the fibers.

[Non-combat tag]

As his young master fell down, Kaunko watched him, stoically standing behind him with his arms crossed.

As Takuro announced, loudly, 'Too tight', Kaunko raised his eyes from the sticky mess. He waited just a second to reach into his loincloth - and goodness knows how he had pocket space there - to produce a smartphone and briefly play the appropriate music. Incense? Well, that wasn't going to be much use now, was it?

But Mitsuya stashed it in her bag anyway. A couple of band-aids went flying out of the pile as she continued rummaging through for something useful; finally, with an irritated huff, she gave that particular section up for lost.

Bad luck all around. She'd pick through this properly later; in the meantime, there was still the Watchman himself to deal with.

But her annoyance at the whole business made it difficult to get into the right mindset, and the wind she summoned was wild and unsteady--who knew where it might go? Certainly not her. (Roll = 1)

Takuro got
squeezed so hard that he lost a whooping 2 HP points (5% of his damage.)

Mitsuya dealt
     33 damage to Watchman!

"Hey, K-kun," Takuro panted, finding it significantly harder to breath. "What are you just standing there for? Help-" his squirming stopped just long enough for him to cough and gasp for breath, "-help me out of this stuff!"

Roll: 5

The horse-man cast a heavenwards look-- a put upon face as if to say 'finally.' Ah, his young master still had so much to learn...

He simply stepped forward and brought both his mighty hands on both sides of Takuro cocoon. By this point, his eyes blazed red again. "Hmm... this does seem pretty tight. Let's make it a little more," uncomfortable pause. "Loose."

With a sudden squeeze and an application of fearsome, demonic force, the cocoon was ripped, and Takuro was set free.

With Takuro getting spider-webbed and all the fuss and magic flying around, it occurred to a (very nervous) Itsuki that this wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to scare others out of getting magic, but... now, as he stood there with spent scroll, he saw a huge battle going on in front of them, and to his left, the barely-conscious Akito Terumi. Thankfully, their opponent was blind and unable to see what went on.

True, his opponent was blind... so he could move. So he rushed to Akito's side-- "Ahh-- Terumi-san, right? Um. I'm sorry. Let's try to move you to safety--"

Honk.

"What?"

Honk honk! Went the snake.

Itsuki blinked... Yes, he did have it on him! He sure did-- in his bag. He rushed to take out the small cup of Healing Yogurt that he had gotten from the cat merchant before, peeling the lid open. "Terumi-san, you should eat this..." he said, tipping the cup into Akito's mouth.

"Ku-Kudou-san...wha..." Though what came out was probably less than intelligible, between his current state and having a cup shoved at his mouth. His eyes blearily focused at the smell (it was difficult to keep them open). Though he rationally knew only a complete idiot would be trying to push yogurt of all things down someone's throat during a situation like this, he failed to see what good it'd do.

He still followed Kudou's instructions.

The taste cut through the pain. It did taste good - very good, if he was in the state of mind to appreciate it - but what made Akito softly gasp and shiver slightly was the cooling sensation that suddenly ran through his body. All the pain didn't go away but at the very least the burning had been blissfully numbed. Even the redness on his skin seemed to be going down.

Akito shifted, attempting to push himself up, and winced. It still hurt, but his eyes were much sharper behind his glasses. He rasped, attempting an automatic slight smile when he looked at Kudou. "Thank you...I really mean it, thanks."

Ami dealt
     41 damage points.

Akito got
     50 HP (from Yogurt)

Keiichi had no idea what the hell was going on, but that wouldn't stop him from throwing himself into the fray with abandon. After all, he might not have magic, but his dad had taught him to throw a mean forearm.

(Roll = 8.)

[identity profile] grinandbear.insanejournal.com 2013-03-03 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Unlike Keiichi, Akito was fine far back enough from the action, especially when he was still using the wall for some support. The last time he'd gotten involved hadn't gone well but Watchman was blinded and it looked like as good a time as any to keep pressing the offense (but only because sneak out or run away weren't options).

He groped the nearby pile ((Luck+roll=6=7)) and found another scroll like the one from before. There was no breeze coming from this one but the seal felt cooled. By that logic, chances were very good if he aimed it at Watchman it'd have the same effect.

((Roll=10))

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-03-03 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
It would be the first time that Akito would experience what, thus far, only a couple of his classmates had lived through, but apparently the world of magic had a sense of climactic thrill:

Against all logic a gush of water came out, as would if the end of a fireman's hose had been somehow waiting inside the rolled-up-parchment. Watchman barely had an opportunity to shout before the water sent him flying backwards [Critical! Damage of 91 x 2 = 182!] across the room.

Spotlights came from nowhere, landing on Akito for a moment, and an unseen crowd cheered for him as confetti rained from absolutely nowhere. The strange moment of anonymous acclaim ended within a couple of seconds, as the lights vanished, the confetti melted as if it were snow, and the voices quieted down.

WATCHMAN IS... DEFEATED?

[identity profile] ephemeralcolor.insanejournal.com 2013-03-03 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
(Roll = 9+luck = 10!)

That had ended handily. Mitsuya beamed at Akito, oddly proud that he'd risen to the challenge--a look of 'see, aren't you glad I brought you here?'. The confetti... well, that was peculiar, but no more so than anything else so far, when she thought about it. This new world played by its own unique rules, after all.

As tempting as it was to properly go through the treasures the room housed, now that they would be undisturbed, her eyes lighted on a more interesting prize. The staff that the Watchman had held was no longer in his grasp, and even a novice like her could tell that it was no ordinary piece of wood.

She was quick to snatch up her prize before its now-previous owner could retrieve it. What sort of power did it hold?

[Itsuki rolls 6 + 2 = 8]

Itsuki was in the process of figuring out what to do with the empty cup of yogurt when Akito vanquished their foe. And then, as if triggered by his defeat, a burst of liquid gold appeared in front of him, rapidly warming up into a bright, white light that took the shape of a piece of paper. It filled with words written strange runic font that nobody remembered learning, yet all understood, and etched in gold, red and black:

Life Insurance

This document entitles the Owner,

Briefly, the ink on the word glowed bright white, and transformed into "Itsuki Kudou" before it continued

"hereon known as the Beneficiary, an opportunity to redeem a resurrection in the event of one [1] untimely death. Take comfort in knowing that no matter how horrible things look, you will die, but then you will get better.

[identity profile] grinandbear.insanejournal.com 2013-03-03 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Akito's mouth hung open slightly. The confetti and random applause was just odd but nothing unpleasant compared to the other things so far this evening.

That spark of feeling, that sheer rush he'd gotten though from the scroll going off and what it'd done had been had been worth much more. He caught Araragi's look and beamed back for a moment.

((Luck+Roll=3=4))

He too a step forward and his foot nudged something that hadn't been there before. He reached down to pick it up and found more...yogurt?
