What: Ami and Asami sneak into the old school building! Others can join too!
When: 8:30PM, some night in June?
Where: Old School Building
Who: Ami, Asami, others!

People in school knew Ami as one person. Asami as Ami's only friend had begun to see a different side to her. And tonight it was almost as if a whole other side of Ami was coming out. A girl who had grown up playing fantasy games and wishing every single day that magic was real so that she could change her body and become who she wanted to be, she had grown up to be a little excited by adventure and the lure of possible mystery. Because if if something beyond explanation could exist at all, that meant there was a chance, no matter how small, that her dream could actually come true.

So when Asami found Ami crouched down by the fence outside the old school building, she'd see the young idol in all black, with plenty of adventuring supplies. She wore a pair of tight black jeans, sneakers, a black turtleneck, and her hair was put up in two buns on the side of her head out of the way. She had a smalls length of rope coiled and hanging from her shoulder, as well as a stack of ofuda she had made from designs online.

"Asami-chan, over here!" she whispered from her hidden spot, waving a short hand to her friend.

Player dice roll 2

That's when a giant rat carrying a bucket of dirt fell down from the ceiling in front of the group. Another one immediately followed from behind. Both stood up on their hind legs, hoisting up their bucket and a broomstick in each hand, and roared out:

"It's not even close," Takuro sighed, glancing across at Itsuki. "Just like the subway, I guess?" Taking initiative, he broke into a run towards the rat on the left. He jumped as he got close, swinging his leg with the intention of planting a foot in the new arrival's stomach.

But the rat, a creature of the night and - seemingly with better eyesight in the shadows - moved fast when Takuro's leg swung over. The rat then retaliated by using his dusty broom to smack Takuro's bottom hard, throwing him sideways and to the ground with all the momentum a butt can stand.

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-17 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah!" Takuro landed and rolled from the momentum before coming to an ungraceful stop. "Ow, fuck, ow- dammit," escaped the boy's lips as he got to his feet and retreated to a safe distance.

"Hey, K-kun!" Takuro called to his summon. "Can you help us against these guys?" It was a genuine question.

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-17 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
The horse demon, who until then had been standing with his arms crossed as if the battle didn't involve him, acted immediately upon Takuro's question-- his hand was already tight around his whip, and with a firm tug (roll 5) he struck at one of the rats.

That hurt-- it got a shriek out of the guard, who dropped his broom to grab onto his face, hissing and spewing expletives. (Roll 2) However, as the horse-man drew back his whip he frowned slightly, clicking his tongue. "Goodness, I must be a little out of practice... I'm better at getting you worked up." [Fear not inflicted.]

"Takuro-kun...!" Itsuki called out, and while relieved to see his friend getting up he was still concerned for him. He was almost distracted from the fact the monster behind him was approaching, broom in hand, but [Roll: 10, perfect evasion] and, just as it did in the subway, for an instant the darkness in the room was parted by the appearance of spotlights that bathed Itsuki's frame in glory, and confetti that dropped from nowhere, along with the sound of a roaring crowd. He'd dodged with serpentine agility, letting the rat guard fall down, and edging away to shove his arm forth. "Kamui! Come to my aid!"

At that moment, the snake god's "ghost costume" ripped asunder, as if a sudden force was blowing out from beneath it, leaving tatters of white fabric in the air... and no sign of the kamui at first, not until it rematerialized in mid air, larger than usual, and looking far more ferocious, before lashing out to wrap tightly around the rat.

[RAT GUARD #2 IS RESTRAINED AND TAKING WRAP DAMAGE.]

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-17 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Itsuki's attack had the area illuminated by the light of the kamui, all of the participates of the battle bathed in the snake's radiance. It also left the shadow of the unbound rat - the one that had counter attacked Takuro - clearly visible on the floor behind it. Takuro reached out, and squeezed.

Nonetheless, the kamui's light was not enough for Takuro to get a good grip on the shadow, and the rat guard escaped his attack.

It was now its turn to move (roll 1) but if Takuro had failed to squeeze histhe opponent and wrangling him, he had succeeded in catching the very edge of the rat's shadow, right at the tail, which made it trip.

[THE RAT GUARD IS STUNNED]

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-17 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
And then Kaunko stepped heavily on the rat's head (roll 8), instantly knocking it out under the pressure of the assailant's mighty feet. In his triumphant cry, he let out a sound like ten chalkboards being scratched by the nails of ten little girls who came out from a TV set - the fearsome death whinny (roll 7) that filled the school hall, and hit the other rat guard, paralyzing it in terror.

The thing is, it also hit Itsuki, who simply froze on the spot.

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-18 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
Affected less by his summon's fearsome attack, Takuro was first to move again. Taking advantage of the remaining rat's highly incapacitated state, he drove a fist into its face with the intention of either knocking it out or at least breaking something.

Roll: 8

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-18 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The force of the punch (and a strength bonus of 2) yielded its result with the rat-man flying backwards just as soon as the kamui let go of him. Takuro felt it then. The world slowed down. Air was thick. His movements were a little slower.

He was in DRAMATIC SLOW MO

And at that moment, the same spotlights that came before for Itsuki returned, to shine on him for just long enough for a voice from nowhere to call out K.O! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVPJuGIuUMU)

Then the rats exploded, leaving behind...!

LOOT LIST

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-18 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
MOD NOTE
When you defeat enemies you get a chance for a loot list. Get prizes by blowing up civilian enemies of all sorts and just committing atrocities against sentient beings in a flourish fashion for big rewards!

When you do this, a list of possible prizes appears, from 1-10, where there are more lame prizes than good prizes. You do a roll, and the higher your roll, the higher the prize. LUCK lowers the difficulty of this roll by 1 point per each 2 stat points.

1. bandaid
2. bandaid
3. bandaid
4. medical spray
5. medical spray
6. medical spray
7. muscle spray

Roll: 10

"...Wow." Takuro had come out of the slow motion effect to a graceful landing, and had straightened up just in time to see his enemy explode. A scroll clattered onto the ground.

He slowly turned back to Itsuki, mouth still gaping. "I... I didn't mean to make him explode," he finally managed to say, "But that was pretty cool, right?"

[identity profile] cakesnake.insanejournal.com 2013-02-18 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Itsuki was shaken out of his terrified stupor by the sudden shock of terrifying stupor over what had just happened. He remained gaping for a moment, looking at Takuro with eyes full of disbelief.

"T-Takuro-kun, you just... punched a guy so hard that he turned into a scroll..."

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-18 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
The summoned horse-demon in an immodest loincloth had to give his respects. His unfortunately well-hinted bulge, his bare chest, and the fact he was a demon wearing bondage straps were no longer the most shocking things in the room.

"Young master," he said, turning to the boy... only to bring up two thumbs up, and flash a stupid grin. "Aw yeah."

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-19 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Childishly pleased with the praise, Takuro turned back to the fallen scroll on the ground and scooped it up. "Assuming there's no lasting damage to my butt, those guys were easy enough. Thank you for the help, K-kun!"

As he was going to stow away the prize away in his bag, Takuro hesitated. "We need to get moving, right? I don't really have time to start reading this..."

Exploration roll: 1

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-19 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The cheerful looks vanished then as Itsuki gaped, about to shout a warning when a purple, blazing fireball whooshed right past Takuro's face, coming from behind him and missing him just barely.

There was something right at the end of the corridor, something hidden in the shadows-- save for the sight of a small fire of the same color of that which had just nearly missed the boys. Likely its source. A source that was glowing brighter, in a rather foreboding way.

Since Takuro used Sight of the Unseen before, he would be able to feel that this presence was the same of the very, very large creature from before.

THREAT
When a threat appears, characters have a given number of rolls (chances) to run away before the threat catches up to them. It may be a boulder, an enemy, or a hazard of some sort. They can also choose to confront the threat (should it be something you CAN fight) or try to use a spell to stop it or help themselves with their turn.

The THREAT will arrive in ONE turn.

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-19 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Move," Takuro barked to his friend. "We need to run, now. I don't know if you can see it, K-kun," he called as he broke into a sprint, intent on putting as much distance as he could between them and the fire as fast as he could, "But this guy is huge. I don't think we can fight him!"

Roll: 3

Success

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-19 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
A roll of 3 + 2 points from character speed = 5.

Itsuki didn't wait to be told, and took off running after Takuro. The Kamui had rematerialized on his shoulders, honking with urgency as he found himself clinging to Itsuki's neck while his head wriggled behind them.

Re: Success

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-19 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaunko could have ran faster than Takuro and Itsuki, given that, as a horse, he was gifted in the field, but he lagged behind, if only to announce in a tone that would make both boys feel very compelled not to look back at him: "I'll be watching your rear, young master..."

Re: Success

[identity profile] thebardinator.insanejournal.com 2013-02-19 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
And it was good they didn't look back, because two more purple fireballs flew by Takuro and Itsuki's side. Those looked like it would HURT if they connected, in as much as most fireballs should, but they had a sort of menace to them. They literally roared while in mid-flight.

OPTIONS

Re: Success

[identity profile] fantasy-skies.insanejournal.com 2013-02-19 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
(Option 2)

Roll: 2 (plus 2 for awareness = 4, fail)

Even they rounded a corner, Takuro was keeping his eyes peeled for anywhere they could hide until their pursuer gave up. "I... I don't think there's anywhere around here we can hide," Takuro called back to Itsuki. "I can't remember seeing anywhere good in this area."

Itsuki swallowed hard. Well, they couldn't keep running forever, right? "Maybe we can just go into any room! There could be some treasure, or maybe one of those scrolls!"

So he made a turn for the first room he could find. (Roll 10) The door was open too! And how convenient, once inside he found a hole in the wall near the chalkboard. He gave Takuro a brief look to make sure he understood the chosen course of action, and dashed in.
